Men's skin care

Injectables, resurfacing, and maintenance designed for men's skin biology in Scottsdale.

Professional Skin Care Designed for Male Biology

More men invest in professional skin care than at any point in the last decade — and the reasons are practical. Looking sharp and rested matters. At Desert Bloom Skincare, Dr. Natalya Borakowski, NMD provides treatments designed for male skin: the biology is different, the goals are different, and the approach should be too.

Four pathways: injectables for lines, wrinkles, and jaw definition → resurfacing and tightening for sun damage and texture → maintenance treatments for ingrown hairs and regular skin health → daily routine guidance to protect results between visits.

No spa language. No dramatic changes. Results that look like a good night’s sleep — and nothing more. Sibling hub: oily skin protocols for male oily-skin and enlarged-pore concerns.

Men’s Skin Has Different Biology — And Different Problems

Male skin is structurally different from female skin, and those differences shape which treatments work best — and which home care products actually do anything.

Thicker dermis — roughly 25% thicker, with higher collagen density that drops more sharply after 40. Oilier skin and larger pores — higher sebaceous activity means more oil production, larger pores, and greater tendency toward oily skin and congestion. Shaving damage — daily shaving strips the skin barrier, causes micro-irritation, and leads to ingrown hairs and texture irregularity. More cumulative sun damage — men historically use less sunscreen, which means deeper photodamage, higher skin cancer risk, and accelerated aging around the eyes and forehead by the 40s.

These factors mean professional treatment — not just adding products — is often the most efficient way to address men’s skin concerns.

Injectables for Men — Lines, Wrinkles, and Jaw Definition

The most popular men’s aesthetic treatments worldwide are injectables. At Desert Bloom, the approach is physician-precise: results calibrated for male facial anatomy, not a generic formula.

All treatments at Desert Bloom are performed under physician supervision. Candidacy is assessed at consultation.

Tell Us About These at Consult

Fitzpatrick IV–VI: Nd:YAG 1064nm (Elluminate Mini) is the primary laser option — safe across all skin types. Alexandrite devices and ablative Erbium are not cleared for darker skin tones.

Active acne flare: No resurfacing laser or RF microneedling until under control.

Accutane within 6 months: No peel, laser, or microneedling.

Cold sore (HSV) history: Antiviral prophylaxis required before laser resurfacing or medium-depth peel.

Post-treatment sun: Broad spectrum SPF daily for at least 4 weeks after any resurfacing, peel, or laser.

Frequently asked questions

Is Botox for men different than for women? Same product, different technique. Men’s Botox preserves the natural masculine brow — flat and strong, not arched. Dr. Borakowski adjusts placement and dosage for male facial anatomy. The result should look like you, well-rested — not like you had anything done.
How much downtime should I expect? Most men’s treatments require zero downtime. Botox and neurotoxins: none. Non-surgical facial masculinization: 24 hours. RF microneedling: 24–48 hours of mild redness. CO2 Cool Peel: one weekend. Treatments are designed to fit a professional schedule.
Will results look natural? Yes. The goal for men is always “refreshed, not reinvented.” Dr. Borakowski specializes in results that look like a well-rested, healthier version of you — not a different person. Men’s skin care at this level is about maintenance and subtle correction, not transformation.
What is the best face wash for men? It depends on your skin type. Oily skin responds best to a gel or foam facial cleanser that removes excess oil without stripping. Dry skin needs a cream-based face wash that cleans without disrupting the moisture barrier. A professional skin assessment identifies your type and the products that actually work.
Do men need anti-aging skin care? Men develop deeper lines and more pronounced sun damage than women, partly because of different collagen loss patterns and historically lower sunscreen use. Starting an anti aging skincare routine in your 30s or 40s is practical — it’s easier to maintain than to reverse. Skin cancer risk from cumulative sun exposure is also a real reason to take sun protection seriously.
What skin care do men actually need? At minimum: a face wash suited to your skin type, a moisturizer, and broad spectrum SPF daily. If you’re in your 30s or 40s and starting to see texture changes, deeper lines, or sun damage — a consultation identifies which professional treatment makes the most sense for your timeline and budget.

Book a Men’s Skin Consultation in Scottsdale

Thirty minutes, a clear plan, and zero pressure. Dr. Borakowski assesses your skin, asks about your goals, and recommends a protocol — not a package. You’ll leave knowing which treatments match your concerns, what realistic results look like, any downtime involved, and what it costs.

Most men schedule their first treatment the same day. Others take time to decide — either way is fine. The practice is a clinical aesthetic practice, not a med spa. The difference matters.

“Men’s skin responds differently — thicker dermis, more sebum, more sun damage from years without sunscreen. My approach is to match the treatment to how male skin actually behaves, not adapt a generic protocol. You’ll leave the consult with a real plan, not a brochure.”
